AN HOUR WITH CHRIS CLEAVE
Chris Cleave’s debut novel Incendiary won a 2006 Somerset Maugham Award, was shortlisted for the 2006 Commonwealth Writers Prize, won the 2005 United States Book-of-the-Month Club’s First Fiction Award and was an international bestseller, published in 20 countries. His second novel, The Other Hand (published in Canada and the United States as Little Bee), was a Sunday Times and New York Times bestseller. It was shortlisted for the Costa Novel Awards. Publishers Weekly has described his third novel, Gold, published in 2012 and set in the world of Olympic speed cycling, as ‘thrillingly written and emotionally rewarding’.
Chris has been a barman, a long-distance sailor and teacher of marine navigation, an internet pioneer and a journalist.
Chair: Kate De Goldi writes fiction for all ages. Her last book, The 10pm Question, was New Zealand Post Book of the Year in 2009.
