The finale of the festival – readings from five of our most celebrated poets, culminating in the presentation of the 2012 Lauris Edmond Award for Poetry.

Riemke Ensing’s work is represented in many anthologies and she enjoys collaborating with artists and printers. In 2009 she wrote a set of poems for the Charles Brasch Centennial, which were published as O Lucky Man.

Bernadette Hall is the author of several poetry collections and has been published in national and international anthologies. She spent last year at the Institute of Modern Letters and edited the on-line anthology, Best New Zealand Poems 2011.

Cilla McQueen was the New Zealand Poet Laureate from 2009 to 2011 and in 2010 received the Prime Minister’s Award for Literary Achievement in Poetry. She has published 12 collections of poetry, the most recent of which is The Radio Room (2010).

Harry Ricketts’ publications include nine collections of poems (most recently Just Then), two literary biographies and two essays. In 2010 he wrote, with Paula Green, 99 Ways into New Zealand Poetry.

Ian Wedde, who is the current New Zealand Poet Laureate, teaches at Auckland University. He has published dozens of works, including poetry, novels and art catalogues.

Chair: James Norcliffe is a prize-winning poet, fiction writer and educator. His poetry has been published worldwide.
